About Us
This family business has its roots set in the late 1950's when late father uprooted the family and moved us from London to the rapidly expanding new town of Welwyn Garden City in leafy Hertfordshire. He saw it as a better environment in which to bring up a young family and it offered him an opportunity to start his own business using his skills as a metal fabricator. He took on premises from the New Town's Commission, from where he was able to secure work from both private companies and the local authority.
When we were old enough, my brother and I, quite naturally, joined the family firm and were both put through an 'apprenticeship' of not only practical skills in metal fabrication but also a thorough grounding in running a business. Over time we saw the need to diversify and set up an in-house and shot blasting facility. This proved popular with other fabricators and soon became known. This aspect of the business soon overtook the manufacturing in terms of both turnover and profit.
The focus of the company was changed and it was decided that we should specialize in all types of surface preparation. In addition to our in-house services, we first of all equipped ourselves to provide on site grit blasting and then, as demand grew, we purchased more specialized dust free grit and shot blasting equipment.

Why Prepcraft
We are an experienced contractor used to working in conjunction with all sizes of main contractors. All our operators are trained in every aspect of preparation machinery and methods used. We work with you to maintain a safe site environment on sites which are often occupied by many different trades. The owner Mr Peter Russell has a 'hands on' approach and is usually on site to supervise the works. Any problems that may arise are therefore sorted out on the spot without delay.
We encourage a 'get the job done' frame of mind amongst our employees and will not tolerate any poor standards of workmanship or attitude.
